Raku in the Open Air Under the Beskid Sky

#RakuOpenAirWhen you think of #workshops and #alternativefirings, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?

Curiosity? The magic of fire?Beautiful and unpredictable results? :)

There was a time when I thought it had all become… a little dull.

Always the same — the same crackles, the same reduction, the same warm saggar tones. Even #nakedraku had lost its thrill… well, actually, no — not quite ;)

Once, I filled the whole kiln with horsehair pottery.

Such boredom… But maybe you can understand, when you’ve done hundreds, maybe even thousands of firings in a gas kiln, when your skin has been kissed by the heat of the fire or the blaze of the summer sun, that feeling can creep in.

And then… you start searching again. You explore new techniques, you blend them together. You hunt for your own glazes, your own unique solutions. You take inspiration from nature, and every gathering around the fire becomes a launchpad for new ideas and unexpected results.

You encounter the whims cs — and you fall in love with it even more. Our charming, unpredictable, rough, colorful friend… #CopperMatte.

For us, every open-air firing is a challenge. You can plan a lot, but you can’t trick nature — whether it’s the weather, the rain, the sun, or the wind… or the group that comes together. The calmer you are inside, the more harmonious the group becomes. And when that happens, more is created. And you know what? That’s the most important part of planning — the expectation that whatever comes will be beautiful and good, allowing all of us to grow — not only artistically, but also in our connections.

Because that’s what #Raku is — even when something doesn’t go according to plan, even when it’s unpredictable — that’s exactly what belongs in the essence of creation, in the path of artistic life, in the sense of fulfillment, belonging, and true ceramic community.

We plan carefully — the place, the details… We look for locations, and each one is exactly as it’s meant to be — just like the people who come to build our open-air community.Sometimes for just a moment, but usually for many, many years. Because that’s how friendships are born — support not only in ceramics or art, but also in life.

So we invite you — under the thatched roof of the mountain sky, to the fire of art and the joy it brings.

This time, our #Raku open-air workshop will take place in the mountains, in Wielka Puszcza, in a little settlement you’ll find by following the arrows along the gravel road. Don’t worry — if you have trouble, someone will come to get you. But I’m sure you’ll find it. Because when people truly want something, they find their place — and their people.

If you don’t have time to prepare your own pieces, let us know — we offer a set of 10 bisque-fired forms (500 PLN).

Workshop price:Workshops — 1070 PLNAccommodation with vegetarian meals — 720 PLN

You can arrive Friday morning, but… on Thursday evening there will be a bonfire and slow-cooked “duszonki,” plus a complimentary Thursday night stay from our wonderful hosts ;)
